The Lord God Made Them All is the fourth volume of James Herriot’s memoirs and follows his return to Yorkshire after serving in the RAF during World War II. Back in Darrowby, he resumes his work as a country veterinarian, encountering the familiar Yorkshire farmers, eccentric clients, and an assortment of animals with unusual ailments.
His young son Jimmy follows him around, farmers resist his new veterinary treatments, and even a goat that has eaten 293 tomatoes becomes one of his many memorable cases. Meanwhile, James and his family are preparing for the arrival of another baby.
Pan Macmillan describes the book as a warm, funny and touching account of determination, love and companionship. The audiobook edition is narrated by Nicholas Ralph, who plays James Herriot in the All Creatures Great and Small television series.
